Homeowner Tips #9
Spring is near (only three weeks away!) and the days keep getting longer, giving the sun more time to heat the Earth and warm up the soil.
But that’s enough science for one day.
Your home’s curb appeal is half lawn, half house. I consider it the Centaur of real estate. To keep the lawn half of your property in tip-top shape, you’ll need to keep your lawn mower in tip-top shape.
Here’s what you’ll need for a Spring Tune Up on your mower:
1. Replace air filter
2. Replace spark plug
3. Drain and refill oil (check owner’s manual for type and amount, or look online)
4. Sharpen or replace blade
5. Fill with fresh gasoline
6. Give it a test run: fire it up and let the engine warm up for a couple minutes before shutting it down (open your garage for this step!)
Your lawn is one of the first things visitors see when arriving at your house. Its appearance, along with the appearance of your home’s exterior, combine to create curb appeal. This first impression is often the unspoken deciding factor on whether a buyer will make you an offer or keep searching for their next home.
If you can’t make it good, at least make it look good. – Bill Gates
Whether you’re selling your home with the top real estate agent in Kansas City or you’ve settled into your retirement home, keeping a nice lawn will be a source of pride for you as a homeowner. Plus, it encourages your neighbors to keep their lawn nice too, helping prevent the spread of weeds and improving all property values.
